Statistical and Spatial Analysis and Visualization
of Data
Since its inception, RBDI has focused on
using statistical methods to site
characterization.
The advantage of this approach is
that it results in a known degree of
confidence in the horizontal and
vertical distribution of contamination.
This approach fits well with
characterizing a site to assess
potential exposure point concentrations
and to identify source areas.
Our
risk-based approach is tailored to
each site, and can obviate the need for
seemingly endless rounds of sampling
when the objectives of the sampling are
clearly enunciated, discussed with
regulators, and met by the data
collected.
RBDI has also used statistics to quantify residual
mass in soil, soil gas, and groundwater such that
the most cost effective remediation methods can be
used to reduce mass quickly in the source areas and
thereby reduce costs and time to regulatory closure.

Developed 2D and 3D visualizations to show contaminant plumes in the
subsurface thus allowing for a visual display of where plumes could or
could not have migrated.
